Jessica was born in Galveston, TX, on June 13, 1984, and grew up in Texas City, TX. She was the daughter of Victoria (Vicky) and the late Dennis Tobleman, and was the third of their six children. She attended Galveston Catholic School and graduated from O’Connell Catholic High School in Galveston, TX in 2002. In high school, Jessica played soccer and tennis and participated in Drama Club and Student Council. She attended college at University of Texas San Antonio where she loved being a sister of Sigma Lambda Alpha sorority and was fondly known as "Kappa". She graduated in 2006 with her Bachelor’s degree in Education (Interdisciplinary Studies). She later earned her Master’s degree in Reading Education from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX, in 2012.
Jessica was a reading teacher at heart. She began her education career as a teacher in Leander ISD in 2006. Later on, she was a teacher, literacy coach, and most recently, Assistant Principal, at Southwest ISD in San Antonio, TX. In her free time, Jessica was a talented baker, specializing in custom cookies, cakes and cupcakes. She also loved camping, especially with her husband and kids, and playing games with family and friends around the table. Jessica and Leonard lived next door to Leonard’s parents, Mary and Leonard Castillo, since 2013, who provided physical, emotional and spiritual support to their family, especially for their 3 children. Jessica leaves behind her husband, children, a large but close extended family, and so many friends from all stages of her very full life. She is preceded in death by her father, Dennis, her nephew, Tommy, and her beloved dogs, Cochise and Wyatt.
A Rosary and Mass to celebrate her life will begin at 9:00 AM on Monday, March 15, 2021, at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Natalia, TX. She will be laid to rest afterwards at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Devine, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Southwest ISD Education Foundation via www.swisdfoundation.com or mailed to 11914 Dragon Lane, San Antonio, TX 78252.
